The area is rich in "wonders" to discover. The places below are Cochin family favourites, but there are many other treasures in Poitou.

- Montmorillon : A charming medieval market town on the banks of the Gartempe. It's Cité de l'Écrit has specialist bookshops, a calligraphy studio...

- Priory of Villesalem : a 12th century jewel of Romanesque art lost in the middle of nowhere.

- Angles sur l'Anglin : one of the most beautiful villages in France. Its impressive castle ruins tower above the river and you climb up steep cobbled streets to bookshops and antique shops.

- Le saut de la Brâme : the river rushes between great rocks then plunges down into a natural pool, hidden in deep forest.
